Death Stranding is an unusual open-world game where carrying cargo across difficult terrain is the core mechanic rather than a side activity. What sounds boring on paper becomes strangely absorbing once the landscape, balance, and loneliness start doing their work.

It turns delivery into drama by making terrain, weather, balance, and cargo management central instead of secondary. That sounds mundane until the systems click and a successful trek starts to feel strangely heroic. Few big-budget games are this willing to build emotion out of movement and burden.
